Non government organisation partners

Introduction

The Office of Environment and Heritage is working in partnership with Non Government Organisations to deliver the Love Food Hate Waste program across NSW.

Our Love Food Hate Waste Non Government partners are committed to reducing the amount of good food that is being sent to landfill in NSW by providing the community with practical and easy tips to reduce food waste.

1 Million Women

The 1 Million Women campaign aims to inspire 1 million women in Australia to cut one tonne of carbon pollution from their daily lives. 1 Million Women is proud to partner with Love Food Hate Waste. Minimising food waste is an important factor in helping households to cut their carbon pollution.

ACE Community College

ACE Community College is an education provider based in northern NSW. As a program partner ACE Community College plans to promote Love Food Hate Waste messages and actions to staff, students and the broader community.

Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE) – NSW Chapter

Australian Association for Environmental Education NSW is the peak body for environmental educators in NSW and is pleased to be a partner of Love Food Hate Waste. Our NSW Environmental Education conference held bi-annually will be a Love Food Hate Waste event.

Beanstalk Food Cooperative

The Beanstalk Food Co-operative is a not for profit community organisation that promotes nourishment, fairness and connection to our food by sourcing ethically produced and ecologically sound produce direct from local farmers and suppliers. The very essence of Beanstalk is to encourage a love of food and an avoidance of waste.

Caldera Institute for Sustainable Community Development Ltd

The Caldera Institute for Sustainable Community Development is an independent not-for-profit consulting company. In the northern rivers region of NSW the Caldera Institute has been involved in several food projects including Foodlinks Village Showcase and Tweed Fresh.

The Centennial Parklands Foundation

The Centennial Parklands Foundation is a charitable organisation established to ensure that the Centennial Parklands environment continues to be enjoyed now and by future generations. There are some great opportunities to integrate Love Food Hate Waste into the park’s education programs and signage in the picnic and BBQ areas.

Circles of Learning

Circles of Learning is a charity providing support to families and individuals to nourish and nurture children to discover the joy and love of learning. Circles of Learning will promote the Love Food Hate Waste program through their website and newsletters.

Dietitians Association of Australia

The Dietitians Association of Australia is the leading nutrition organisation in Australia representing more than 4,400 dietitian and nutritionist members. Planning the food you buy, cooking appropriate amounts and storing food safely have a positive impact on the environment as well as health benefits.

Flame Tree Food Co-op

The Flame Tree Community Co-op Limited is committed to its stock being local, organic and unpackaged where possible. By buying food grown and made locally they are reducing food miles and supporting regional sustainable initiatives. Love Food Hate Waste is a great fit for the food co-op and will be promoted at local events.

Foodwise

Do Something's FoodWise web site shows people how to reduce the environmental impact of the food that they eat. By showing people how to be 'FoodWise', the campaign also aims to reduce the 3 million tonnes of food that Australians throw away every year.

Grafton Community College

Grafton Community College provides education and training courses for the local community. As a program partner Grafton Community College will promote the Love Food Hate program through its website and at local events. Grafton Community College is proud to be part of this vital imitative.

GWYMAC Landcare

GWYMAC is a not-for profit community organisation working to inspire and enable the community to build a resilient environment for now and the future.

GWYMAC will integrate Love Food Hate Waste into regional community events. In the future, GWYMAC hopes to have Love Food Hate Waste themed workshops at the forming community garden.

Healty Kids Association

The Healthy Kids Association Inc is a not-for-profit health promotion organisation aiming to promote and influence healthy food choices for children.

Healthy Kids Association Inc will promote the program through their newsletters and member's magazine and hope to conduct some food waste avoidance workshops in the future.

Kariong Neighbourhood Centre

Kariong Neighbourhood Centre (KNC) works with children, young people, individuals and their families to improve the quality of life within the community. The key messages of the LFHW program will be integrated throughout the centre to promote sustainable living and healthy eating.

Keep Australia Beautiful NSW

Keep Australia Beautiful NSW leads, challenges and inspires communities in striving for a sustainable and litter free environment. As a program partner, KAB will incorporate food waste avoidance tips into the existing ‘reuse, recycle handy tips’ section on its website and plans to work with councils in northern NSW to promote LFHW.

Leapfish Incorporated

Leapfish is a not-for-profit environmental education company with programs on energy, water and waste. Programs are designed to be relevant to people's lives and be fun and effective. Evaluation through the University of New England showed significant reduction in patterns of wasteful consumption.

Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living

The Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living is a not for profit education and demonstration centre that promotes environmentally sustainable homes and gardens to the community. As a partner the Centre will be running workshops for householders and businesses on menu planning, budgeting, and food preparation and cooking to help reduce food waste.

Manning Valley Neighbourhood Centre

Manning Valley Neighbourhood Services Inc is a community development organisation that supports individuals, groups and the community to address issues that affect them. As a program partner, they will provide Love Food Hate Waste resources to their clients and adopt Love Food Hate Waste principles into the Garden2Kitchen program.

Mount Terry Primary School Parents and Citizens Association

The P&C Association of Mt Terry Public School is committed to creating a sustainable community around food and families. This community will be built around and complement the school's Living Classroom. A 'Living Kitchen' will be established to share food, ideas, recipes and tips to avoid food waste.

Mullumbimby Community Garden

The Mullumbimby Community Garden will be an interactive facility for the people of Byron Shire. We will promote LFHW in our monthly newsletters, website and social networks. In the future it is hoped we can run cooking classes at the garden.

Nature Conservation Council of NSW

The Nature Conservation Council of NSW (NCC) is a non-profit organisation representing 120 community environment groups across NSW.

The NCC is pleased to be a partner of Love Food Hate Waste and will be working with the community on simple things we can do at home to reduce food waste.

Nutrition Australia

Nutrition Australia aims to promote optimal health for all Australians by encouraging food variety and physical activity. Nutrition Australia is committed to embedding sustainability messaging with those of healthy eating and involvement with Love Food Hate Waste will help to achieve this goal.

OxFam Australia

3things is Oxfam Australia's youth program, providing opportunities and support for young Australians who want to make the world a better place in ways that are meaningful to them. Oxfam Australia will promote Love Food Hate Waste on the 3things website.

OzGreen Global Rivers Environmental Education Network (Australia) Inc

OzGREEN is a not-for-profit organisation designing and delivering programs for sustainability leadership. As a program partner, OzGREEN will encourage supporters, through the website, e-newsletter and Facebook, to visit the LFHW website and set targets for reducing food waste.

OzHarvest

OzHarvest is a not-for-profit organisation that rescues excess food from businesses across Sydney, Canberra, Wollongong and Newcastle to support charities that feed the disadvantaged.

OzHarvest is pleased to be a partner of Love Food Hate Waste and will be encouraging business to donate excess food and reduce food waste in NSW.

WEA Illawarra

WEA Illawarra is part of the Community College network dedicated to the principles of life-long learning. As a program partner, in the future WEA hopes to introduce LFHW messages into their lifestyle and tutor courses.

YMCA of Sydney

Camp Yarramundiis pleased to partner with Love Food Hate Waste. This program is a wonderful opportunity to educate our young campers and help them make better, life-long choices. Camp Yarramundi will promote the program through its website and through all visitors to the camp – schools, families and groups.
