NSW Health - Local Health District

Northern NSW Local Health District is a component of NSW Health. It delivers health promotion education, teaching the community about healthy eating and active living through individual, group and community based programs. It will promote food waste avoidance by building healthy environments that connect people closer to food in order to reduce food transport distances, encourage people growing their own food, reducing waste and improving nutritional intake.

NSW Food Authority

NSW Food Authority

The NSW Food Authority ensures NSW food is safe and correctly labelled. It works with consumers, industry and other government organisations to minimise food poisoning by providing information about and regulating the safe production, storage, transport, promotion and preparation of food.

With good planning and safe handling at every stage of the food cycle, food waste can be reduced and the risk of people becoming ill minimised.

The Authority supports Love Food Hate Waste's efforts to reduce food waste while not compromising on food safety. For more information visit the NSW Food Authority website or call 1300 552 406.
