2021 spelled out using food

New Food Resolutions

In one way or another 2020 was a challenging year for everyone and most of us are happy to close the door on this chapter and start a-fresh.

In the UK, where I am originally from, January is a bleak month, but here in Australia it is my favourite time of the year! Holidays, sunshine, BBQs, seafood, an abundance of summer fruits, the beach and the bush all add up to mean a fun-filled four weeks.

One of the few bright sides of the COVID year was that it helped us all appreciate our food more and waste less. We started to value our food and where it comes from more and the farmers who get it to us.

So in celebrating the 2021 new year new beginning – let’s take the chance to reset and refocus.

So, we’re asking our community to pledge to set their own food waste resolutions. This month, we’ll provide you with delicious waste-free recipes that will help you beat the heat, tips that will reduce your environmental footprint, give you guidance on back-to-school lunch box ideas and of course remind you of the many ways in which we can all reduce food waste.

Simple things like checking what’s in your cupboard and fridge, then writing a shopping list (and sticking to it), eating seasonally, not cooking too much (just in case), ensuring portion sizes are accurate and storing leftovers correctly all mean less food wastage.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2021!

Thanks,
