This privacy policy applies to all the publicly accessible pages on the Love Food Hate Waste website ("the website") located at lovefoodhatewaste.nsw.gov.au, email alerts and publications

The Love Food Hate Waste website is maintained and operated by the NSW Environment Protection Authority on behalf of the NSW Government and will be collectively referred to as "We", "our" or "us" in this privacy policy.

Automatic collection of information

Our computers automatically collect information when you view pages on the Love Food Hate Waste website and/or use services and facilities available to registered site users. Information tracked and collected in this manner cannot be traced to an individual person.

We may publish aggregated information about site usage and patterns, to the extent that it does not identify or cannot be used to identify individual users.

Information collected from forms

Clicking on the 'submit' button on the Become a Partner, online programs or contact us forms acts as your consent for us to collect the information you have provided.

These facilities are available to enable you to become a member of the Love Food Hate Waste community, provide input into the site, request more information or follow-up, make suggestions, or comment on the provision of service delivered by the Love Food Hate Waste website.

Before you submit this information we will take reasonable steps to inform you of:

  • where applicable, any law that requires the particular information to be collected
  • which fields are mandatory and which are optional.

Use of the forms is optional. We will collect such personal details as your name, home or business address, telephone number and email address and may disclose your contact details within EPA and external consultants directly involved in the delivery and promotion of associated programs for the purpose for which it was provided only.

We may publish aggregated information, for example about the number of people who register as Food Lovers or who send feedback to the site, to the extent that it does not identify or cannot be used to identify individual users.

Information collected from email

If you send us an email, we will record your email address only for the purpose of responding to you.

Use and disclosure of personal information

Personal information collected from forms and email will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it or for such other secondary purposes that are related to the primary purpose, unless we disclose other uses in this privacy policy or at the time of collection.

Copies of correspondence sent from and to the website, that may contain personal information, are processed as appropriate, then stored as archives for record-keeping and back-up purposes only.

Your personal information (including your email address) will not be automatically added to a mailing list, or sold or otherwise transferred to a third party for commercial purposes.

Disclosure under special circumstances
