We all love our food, and no one wants to waste it, but sometimes it happens when we over buy, cook too much, or don’t store food correctly.

Did you know that the average person in NSW wastes $965 in food every year? Imagine throwing $965 into a bin. That’s how much money each person wastes on food in NSW each year as outlined in the 2021 Australian household food waste report.

Fortunately, by making a few simple changes at home, you can reduce food waste, eat well, and save money.

Making the most of your produce and using it all are simple steps you can take to reduce the amount of food you throw away. This month we will be sharing our tips, tricks, and recipes to help you escape the winter chill in the kitchen, as well as facts, hacks, and exciting news about the ways you can love food and hate waste.

Top tips to Love Your Food

  • Check the pantry – raid your pantry for dried or tinned grains and pulses, then use them to bulk up leftovers. Quinoa burgers, anyone?
  • Upcycle your staples – with a seemingly short shelf life, bread is one of the most wasted foods worldwide – that’s why you Knead to Know our top three ways to help revive your stale bread.
