Lemon ice cubes

Out with the old, in with the new

It’s spring, and time to make your produce sing!

This month we’re exploring how to change our food waste ways for the better by learning new tricks to keep old produce fresh.

#OldMeNewMe

1 September 2021

The changing of the seasons is a great time to experiment and experience a range of new produce and assess what is and isn’t working in the kitchen. By being open to new ideas and introducing thoughtful actions when you shop, prep, cook and store, can help you to love food more and waste it less.

In September, we’ll be sharing NEW ways to keep your food fresh, as well as show you how to turn leftovers into saucy staples by utilising the freezer. If you’re looking to make some space for your new and improved food-loving creations, we’ll be providing go-to tips on how to spring clean your pantry – as well as your old habits! #OldMeNewMe

Our partnership community is growing, and over the next few months we’ll be introducing you to some new recruits including the fabulous ladies at Cornersmith, as well as UN NSW and Happy Hens. Further up north, our Love Food Communities have been busy working alongside schools, who are fighting food waste on the Mid and North Coast (some of which have shared some seriously heart-warming drawings!).

As always, we love hearing about your clever creations and new waste-free hacks, so please share them with us on our Instagram  or Facebook  platforms. To get things started… I’ll be turning this bucket of homegrown passion fruits into a curd, using lemons, butter and sugar and freezing it to use in summer drinks and cakes. For the recipe, check out SBS Food.

Take care and look after each other!
